Margie Perscheid

Margie Perscheid is the adoptive mother of two Korean children, both adopted as infants and now teens. Ms. Perscheid believes that post-adoption support begins with adoptive families, a philosophy that led her in 1996 to co-found Korean Focus, an organization for adoptive families based in metro DC, with chapters in Northern Maryland, Cincinnati, Seattle, and Indianapolis. Korean Focus fosters connections between adoptees, adoptive families, and the Korean American community, and was honored in 2003 by the Korean American Coalition DC Chapter with its Bridge Builder Award. In addition to her work with Korean Focus, Ms. Perscheid has served on the board of directors of the Korean American Coalition DC Chapter and the Korean Branch of the Metropolitan Washington YMCA. She writes the occasional article and shares her thoughts on her blog, Third Mom. Ms. Perscheid lives with her family in Alexandria, Virginia.
